Ad for Drambuie, a sweet liqueur made from scotch whiskey, 44.

Subject

Alcohol

Description

Two white cartoon men are served a “dram” of Drambuie liquor, described as “a luxurious after-dinner adventure.” They are served by what looks like an Asian waiter in an Oriental place (perhaps China). The point is that you can enjoy Drambuie in any circumstance, even exotic ones like after-dinner in China. The text boasts that the liqueur has been made in Scotland since the mid-18th century and comes from the secret recipe of a prince. It also points out that there is a special “cordial glass” for this drink. Like many alcohol ads, this one associates its product with wealth, prestige, and timelessness.
