Rare II Wilderness Proposals (1979)

Title

Rare II Wilderness Proposals (1979)

Description

In February of 1979, the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry held a subcommittee meeting in Middlebury, Vermont to receive proposals on Rare II Wilderness sites across the United States. After three days of proposals and hearings, the committee decided to disable federal protection of certain designated wilderness sites in favor of economic stimulus, while adding two new sites. The RARE I and II Wilderness sites protect over 15 million acres of land in the US from private and commercial use
