Butterflies to Be First Insects on U.S. Endangered List

Description

Congress passed the Endangered Species Act in December of 1973. At first the list mainly only included charismatic megafauna, such the blue whale, tiger, and gray wolf, but in 1975 forty species of butterflies became the first insects to be included.
